Happy 202nd birthday, Mexico!

During this week, I learned that the name “Independence Day” is a complete misnomer in Mexico. It should really be called Independence Week!

Between training classes, Spanish lessons, long conversations with my host family, and all of the many Independence Day celebrations, I am barely keeping my head above water. Not that I am complaining; late night fireworks and freshly fried plantains are agreeing with me! I just need one of those elusive “siestas” that I have heard rumor of.

More to come once I am a bit more rested. Until then, happy independence week to Mexico!

To whet your appetite, I plan to share tips on how to wash the dishes in Central Mexico, to provide updates about training class and Spanish, and of course, to post some photos of the city and of my house. Check back soon!
